Performance Kids is dedicated to encouraging physical activity among preschool-aged children through fun, engaging, non-competitive, educational lessons .  Our goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle that will include positive choices and encourage children to participate in physical activity for a lifetime.

What does a lesson look like?

1.  60 minutes of instructional time.IMG_6837

  • Utilizing pedagogical knowledge, we create educational physical activity lessons that are developmentally appropriate for preschool aged children.  60 minutes of instructional time gives your child the opportunity to participate in a variety of movement concepts, skill themes and fitness activities.  Our lessons are designed with purpose and long-term goals.  Research now suggests that preschool aged children receive at least 60 minutes of structured physical activity per day.  It is our goal that fun, educational 60 minute lessons will encourage, motivate, and give your child the skills necessary to participate in physical activity for a lifetime.

2.  Lessons are always taught by a certified physical education instructor.

  • We value the fact that you are looking for an opportunity for your child to experience an educational, developmentally appropriate program.  In order to best serve you, it is imperative that trained teachers are working directly with your children.  Our teachers establish credibility within our program by providing a sound knowledge base and expertise that is only achieved through accredited university programs.

3.  Skill themed curricular instruction.

  • Our program is designed around a curricular skill themed model.  Each lesson will focus on the development of locomotor skills, manipulative skills, and nonmanipulative skills.  Skill themes are fundamental movements that are later combined and utilized in physical activity settings.  Our goal is to IMG_6954introduce children to skill themes that they can later enjoy while participating in sport and fitness activities. The skill theme curricular model introduces children to traveling, chasing, fleeing, kicking, punting, throwing, catching, volleying, dribbling, striking with rackets, striking with bats, striking with hockey sticks and more.

4.  Movement exploration.

  • Children will have the opportunity to learn about body control (body, space, effort, relationships) while developing movement concepts such as running, jumping, skipping, galloping, sliding, etc.   These movement concepts establish a solid foundation for future physical activity.

5.  Physical fitness within the skill theme approach.

  • Fun, educational fitness activities are interwoven into each 60 minute lesson.  Children experience the joy of physical activity through the integration of developmentally appropriate fitness activities and games.

6.   Academic integration built into each fitness and skill themed lesson.IMG_6758

  • Within each lesson, children have an opportunity to explore colors, shapes, letters, numbers, word recognition and more.

Why do we design our program around eight lessons (one session)?

Our program is designed for your child to receive the most educational, influential, and long-term benefits possible.  Using a curricular skill themed model, children explore new concepts each lesson, while creating relationships with instructors and other students that could last a lifetime.  Our teachers are equipped with the ability to assess and nurture the development of each child.

We will only see 8 to 10 students per class during each session.  This allows us to form caring, trusting relationships with the children and parents we work with and results in a fun, interactive, educational environment.

If you feel eight sessions won’t work for you, that’s not a problem.  We will always work with your schedule for an opportunity to teach your child!
